The leading privately-funded aerospace manufacturing company, SpaceX, together with its founder and CEO, Elon Musk, is proudly sharing its highly-anticipated SN8 Starship to launch soon, attaining an altitude of 60,000 feet. The spacecraft sports the look of the retro spaceship and sports a stainless steel body that gives its signature design.
SpaceX's SN8 Starship aims to provide wonders and amaze the world with its capabilities to soon don the skies and even the celestial heavens. Elon Musk teases the spacecraft's nosecone design and flaps on his Twitter account (@elonmusk). The SN8 Starship will be the first spacecraft to sport the stainless steel body, featuring the iconic spacecraft design.
SpaceX and its CEO, Elon Musk, do not shy away from showing off with the stainless steel body's flashy and shiny design that will surely make the rocketship stand-out among other vehicles, even the company's very own rocketships. One way or another, excitement guaranteed! Support of greater Boca, Padre, Brownsville community is very much appreciated. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) September 12, 2020
Elon Musk appreciates the public's support on the spacecraft and expresses his regards on Twitter along with the SN8 tease. After finishing the SN8 Starship's assembly that will come in a week, SpaceX will test the vehicle's static fire and checkouts before its actual test flight.
The test flight will require the spacecraft to fly 60,000 feet (equivalent to 11.36 miles) towards the sky and back to the ground. The SN8's elders, SN5 and SN6, have already completed its low-altitude test flights, according to Tesmanian.
The smaller versions of the spacecraft, SN5, and SN6 achieved a 150-meter lift-off before landing vertically on a launchpad.
SN8 Starship: What makes it so unique?
SpaceX's SN8 Starship is a unique spacecraft because it will be the first stainless steel-designed ship in all of the world's and its history. SN5 and SN6 are only test vehicles but also sports steel design. SN8's full-body construction that is already wearing the spacecraft design separates it from the test duo.
The space vehicle will also utilize three of the famed Raptor rockets that will provide power on its launch and its aero fin designs. Currently, SpaceX is building multiple prototypes in its Boca Chica facility.
Upon completing its flight, the SN8 is programmed to return to the surface by doing a 'flat' drop parallel to the Earth's surface before descending into a vertical position. This feat would be controlled by the spacecraft's Merlin engines who wil control the vehicle's body specifically for its return landing. You know it’s Endgame when SN8 does this.#SpaceX #Starship #ElonMusk pic.twitter.com/DqZTRtkdow — Erc X (@ErcXspace) September 14, 2020
Lars Blackmore, A SpaceX Engineer famous for his work on Falcon 9's landing system, says that this 'crazy piece of rocket gymnastics' will top the achievements of the company's most famous rocketship. SN8 Starship's future success will revolutionize the whole aerospace industry.
When will SN8 Launch?
Elon Musk's Twitter announcement that SN8 Starship's components would be finished by next week hints the possibility for the sooner test launch of the SN8. This rocket is built to bring humans to space, a passenger spacecraft that will offer the opportunity of anyone traveling out-of-this-world.
A Federal Communications Commission (FCC) listing states that October 11 is the intended date for the Starship's launch. However, according to Musk, the first orbital flight of the spacecraft would be taking place next year.
The SN8 Starship will complete numerous flights before actually bringing humans to space with Elon Musk testing the spacecraft's capability and safety.
