LG reveals its new wearable air purifier called "PuriCare," which can be described as something Rick and Morty would wear when they time travel. PuriCare was unveiled on Thursday, Aug. 27, showing that the new technology puts LG's home air purifiers on people's faces.

It looks like something that a cartoon would wear when they got stuck in a bad timeline, facing militarized police tear-gassing peaceful protesters, climate change-fueled wildfires, and a global pandemic of respiratory illness.

The manufacturer claimed that the battery-powered device is a "new category of wearable air purifier technology" since it can provide significant protection from hazardous air particles using two H13 HEPA filters.

Its unique feature also allows its users to adjust air intake based on their breathing patterns.

"With its Dual Fans and patented Respiratory Sensor, LG's wearable air purifier allows users to take in clean, filtered air," said the company.

LG explained that it could adjust the dual three-speed fans by identifying the volume and cycle of the wearer's breath.

What could be the problems of LG's new technology

During the press release, the company explained that the fans automatically slow down to lessen resistance when exhaling and speed up to assist air intake, making breathing easier. However, PuriCare has specific issues that make it not the right choice during the global coronavirus pandemic, according to the Verge.

LG's new mask contradicts public health's recommendation that masks should prevent the people who don't know they have the virus from infecting other people. PuriCare doesn't have the ability to prevent its wearer from infecting other individuals, especially when the asymptomatic transmission is common.

It was also reported that LG had not used a mask prototype on a human being yet, stating that the company grabbed a stock photo model and edited the new wearable air purifier on his face.
